Maybe Patty will bike South America with Me

June 29 evening. 65 miles today and 10 hours on the road. Probably the hardest day we have had. Lots of steep long grades of 6 -7% grades with a super strong head wind all day. Nothing sadder in life than struggling up a long hill and start down the other side and have to pedal instead of coast because the wind is blowing so strong. Just about breaks your heart! As I pedal up the hill cranking my legs at 80 reps a minute going only 4 miles an hour panting and sweating I keep repeating " I am burning tons of calories and getting skinny and my wife is going say to me "you hunk" when she sees me. Helps:) I had two flat tires. At least it gives me a little time to rest. Met a young couple from Portland yesterday who have saved up and are taking two years to bicycle to the bottom of South America. Can't believe how many are doing that. Maybe I will have to talk Patty into doing that with me. :) We are in Tok, Alaska tonight. 4 more days of pedaling.

  1. Dee, we are finally enjoying beautiful Summer weather in Jefferson. And a lovely breeze. And fresh Oregon strawberries from Greens Bridge. We're still praying for you both, for non-boring days and plenty of sleep at night. John and Joyce
