And More Rain!

June 20 evening. We started out riding in the car because it was raining so hard and then we got out of town a ways and it stopped so we unloaded our bikes and rode. Did 40 miles today. Went uphill all day as we head for the Continental Divide. We will get there in about 5 miles so I am hoping for some downhill riding. Met a guy on the road today from Sweden who flew to Anchorage and is riding to San Diego. Very nice young man. Didn't rain much on us today but was very cold. Funny experience, sweating from riding hard and cold at the same time. Saw lots of very beautiful scenery today. Had another flat today. Little sharp rock went through the tire. Between Cliff and me we were able to get it off, patched and put back on. Were doing it at a rest stop and we gathered quite a crowd to watch. They probably hadn't seen anything that funny in a while. Raining right now in camp but we have a tarp stretched out to sit under and a big fire. More road construction today where there is lots of gravel. We ride out where the vehicle tires have flattened and smoothed out the groove and when we se a rig coming in our mirror we move into the soft stuff. My tires are a little bigger around than Cliff's so I don't have quite as hard a time navigating in the soft gravel. I am getting a little more in shape every day with not so many aching muscles but my thighs are burning tonight with all the uphill we did today. I am hoping that it isn't raining in the morning but the way things have been going I would be surprised if it isn't.
