Bike Troubles :)

Two of the biggest challenges I am having are getting on my bicycle and off my bicycle. I have these special pedals that my shoes lock into. It's supposed to be better so you can pull up as well as push down.

The part that my shoe locks into is on one side of the pedal, the other side is a normal pedal. After I get started I have to get the locking side of the pedal up and my shoe in just the right place and push the little thing on the bottom of my shoe into the little thing on the top of my pedal. I can't pull this off without looking down at my feet. When I do I tend to wiggle around a bit as I ride. We have 2 or 3 feet normally between the bump bump things on the side of the road to tell drivers that they drifting off the road and the shoulder of the road. Off the shoulder is this soft sand. When your bicycle tire goes into this sand it instantly stops. The result is usually a wreck of sorts. I have only done it twice and I am so thankful no one was driving by to see me. They probably would jump out and start giving me CPR!

The other problem is that before you stop you are supposed to twist your shoe to release the shoe from the lock on the pedal. The trouble is I forget. When you come to a stop and go to put your foot down but you can't, you just fall over and look quite stupid. I should be wearing my motorcycle jacket with all the padding in it. If somebody had videoed me they could make some money on "Funniest Home Videos."
