Kamikaze Black Flies

It is June 9th about 3 pm and we are camping at bear lake tonight. No cell service so you won't get this note until tomorrow. Cell service will start getting more and more intermittent as we get farther north. Lots of mosquitoes and black flies. I guess the north country is famous for their black flies. They are about half the size of a house fly but look the same. They don't hover around you like a mosquito, they ram into you at full speed. It is a good thing they aren't bigger or they would hurt like an air soft pellet. They do bite and it does hurt a bit. Doesn't turn into a welt and itch like a mosquito bite does and they don't seem to bite through your clothes like a mosquito. Repellent doesn't seem to work as well for them I think because they are going so fast they don't have time to smell the repellent. My theory of course. One would have to talk to a black fly to know for sure.

Ate in a restaurant for lunch as we drove here but I was good and ate broccoli and salad and a couple small pieces of chicken. If I did burn up a bazillion calories yesterday as I estimated I didn't want to undo it with a greasy hamburger.
