June 19 evening. Pedaled 40 miles. Our goal was 60 but it monsoon rained on us all day and by 4 pm I was froze to the bone. I was soaked to the bone. Even my internal organs were wet. They had showers here where we are camping. Two dollars for 8 minutes. I put it on straight hot. Whooee, that felt so good to get warm again. Thank you, Lord, for showers. Still no service here at Watson Lake. We saw 2 bears today and a bunch of buffalo. The 40 miles we did do worked us hard with lots of hills. My legs are definitely getting in shape for this riding, we only had to walk one hill today. Met a guy on a bicycle today from Taiwan. He flew to Anchorage and was pedaling to San Francisco. He had at least 100 lbs of gear on his bike. Now there was one tough guy. I can't believe all this rain we are encountering. The lady where we stayed last night said it hadn't rained in 2 months and then we show up. I found the leak in my mattress. I put some glue on the hole and we will see how it holds up tonight. I have to admit that this weather is getting discouraging. Everything is affected, the biking, the camping, and my writing. Hopefully it will be better tomorrow.
